We urge the Corpus Christi City Council to support an INDEPENDENT analysis of the impact on the Corpus Christi Bay of millions of gallons per day of high-salinity wastewater from the City’s proposed Inner Harbor desalination facility. A robust, INDEPENDENT “far-field modeling” assessment of the impact on the Bay outside of the immediate area of discharge is absolutely critical to understanding the risk that desalination presents to the Bay’s ecosystem. Such a study must be completed prior to any decision to proceed with the proposed Inner Harbor facility or any other proposed desalination facility.
